Really Important Stuff
My name is Dominic Beck. A child of two teachers, I have been involved with the world of education since, well, ever. Now, at UT Austin, I am a part of the UTeach-Liberal Arts program, a four-semester immersion sequence preparing to teach in Texas schools. I hope to use my History and Philosophy degree to become the “cool” history teacher.
Tutoring is a natural love of mine. As a tutor, I aim to build relationships, establish rapport, and challenge the students I work with because that is how I like to be taught; success is a collaborative effort.
Away from the classroom, I devour books like The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen, Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut, and the timeless Lord of the Rings. I also write, mostly for the Texas Travesty, UT’s best (and only) satire magazine. Exercise is also an important part of my life, and in the summer of 2022, I will be biking to Alaska to raise money for cancer research with UT’s Texas 4000 for Cancer group.
I scored a 1500 on the SAT. I currently have a 4.0 at the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in History and Philosophy.
I scored 5’s on the AP Exams for:
- World History
- European History
- Human Geography
- Physics 1
- English Language and Composition
- English Literature and Composition
- Environmental Science
