Really Important Stuff
Hello, Megan Scoppa here! I earned my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biochemistry/Biophysics with a minor in chemistry from the University of Houston in 2011. After that, I worked in the science sector until about 5 years ago when I became a high school science teacher with Humble ISD. My industry background allows me to relate many science topics to the “real world,” to answer your questions of, “Why do I need to know this?”
I have taught on-level and pre-IB courses which included Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC), Principles of Physics (POP) and most recently, Chemistry. My use of technology was widely admired in the district to the point where I taught over a dozen professional development sessions and was highlighted in a Teacher Showcase in 2018 for my use of choice boards (centered around the connection of the Ideal Gas Law and the New England Patriots’ “Deflategate” of 2015).
When I’m not blinding you with science I can be found spending time with twin entropy machines, Mike and Ben, baking delicious treats for my husband (his favorite is cherry cobbler) and taking our three year old boxer, LaLa, on walks.
