Founder & Owner

My name is Susan Powers. I am a mother of two grown children, so I understand first hand the desire for your future college student to have all possible opportunities open to him or her. Email me today at susan@woodlandstestprep.com!

I began my career in test prep nearly 30 years ago when I started teaching Kaplan SAT and GMAT courses for fun.  I enjoy seeing students’ minds and eyes light up and watching their confidence building week after week.  I founded Woodlands Test Prep in 2011 because tutoring one-on-one or in small group classes is even more rewarding — students make so much more progress when attention is devoted to their specific needs.

With the advent of the Digital SAT, I’ve been at the forefront of analyzing and understanding the new format, categorizing all 2,000 of the available College Board practice questions and six Bluebook tests, and creating over 220 custom digital quizzes for our students.  I’ve created our overall curriculum for the Digital SAT from the ground up, ensuring that our students have the most effective and engaging materials.  I recently appeared as part of a panel of experts on the Digital SAT at the National Test Prep Association 2023 Winter Conference in New Orleans.  Our research and experience with the new format keeps us on the cutting edge of how to best approach the test.

Now a member of the Board of the National Test Prep Association, I’m excited to help guide the organization strategically and support the worldwide network of tutors helping students meet and exceed their goals.
