When should my teen take their first official SAT or ACT?
Most students are ready once they’ve completed — or are close to completing — Algebra II. That’s when they’ve learned the majority of the math content tested, which makes preparation more effective.
It’s also important that the first official test isn’t just a “trial run.” Starting with a practice test and a clear plan helps students feel prepared and get the most out of that first attempt.
