Brian MacGilvray

I grew up in College Station and went to A&M Consolidated High School, where I was active in band and choir, and I’m a proud three-time alum of the TMEA All-State Choir. I majored in music at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) and went on to earn a master’s from the University of Kentucky (Lexington, KY) and a PhD from Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH).

My twenty years’ experience as an educator has included ten as a university lecturer and undergraduate academic advisor and ten as a private tutor for SAT/ACT prep and all K–12 subjects. I have taught numerous undergraduate writing seminars and history courses as well as research methodology and dissertation seminars for master’s and doctoral students.

I love classroom teaching but also love working with students individually and tailoring my instruction to their academic needs and learning styles. I’m very excited to be back in my home state and a member of the Woodlands Test Prep team!
