How many times should you take the SAT or ACT?
For most students, the answer is 2–3 times.
Very few students reach their best score on a first attempt. Testing more than once allows students to apply what they’ve learned, adjust their approach, and improve specific sections over time.
That’s why we recommend planning ahead—so there’s time to prep properly before the first test and leave room for re-testing if needed.
A thoughtful testing plan makes the process much more manageable.
