Melanie Nguyen

Hello! My name is Melanie Nguyen. I graduated from Conroe High School in 2020 summa cum laude, having taken 15 AP courses and maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout my high school career. I recently attained my B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in Chinese (I was highly involved with pioneering cultural events and AAPI awareness on campus and found myself learning a new language while I was at it!) with honors at Trinity University in May of 2024.
My tutoring journey and love for teaching began when I attended my former teacher’s Algebra I tutoring sessions as an assistant. I was grateful for her help during my transition period from 6th-grade math to 9th-grade Algebra I and found great joy in helping other students come to love the subject as much as I did!
Throughout high school, I offered tutoring as an AP Ambassador and a member of Mu Alpha Theta. I continued to tutor while attending college, working for two tutoring organizations to teach in-person, online, individual, and group classes for all subjects and ages (from first-graders wanting to establish a strong learning foundation to high school students for their AP courses). Additionally, I was invited by my professors to work as a peer tutor for a wide variety of college courses, which included a college-level writing/presentation course and a third-semester biology course.
Currently, I am applying to graduate schools to obtain a PhD in medical genetics while working as a research assistant at the UTHealth medical school research center. My passion and comfort in the sciences drive me to continue to share my love for and excellence in these subjects, and I hope that my students will not only master the material but come to enjoy it as much as I do.
In my free time, I enjoy practicing viola for the Conroe Symphony, reading, gaming (my love for math definitely stems from all the calculations I did to play Pokémon), upgrading my fish tank, and spending time with my dog, Orion!
