Russell Wylie
Test Prep Tutor
My name is Russell Wylie. I have three degrees from Sam Houston University: Math, Psychology, and Teaching. I’m “from around here” and graduated in the top 10% from Klein High School.
I worked at a summer camp in Maine, O-AT-KA for seven years, teaching boys of all ages everything from dark room photography to rock climbing to baseball. I was promoted to CIT Director where I was in charge of all the counselors-in-training (summer 2015), and in 2016, I was the head of the whole Junior Program (all 8 – 11 year olds). I have also worked as a math tutor both at Mathnasium and privately, teaching subjects from elementary math up through calculus and physics.
I was a National Merit Commended Scholar and I scored a perfect 800 on the SAT Math II subject test. I regularly take the SAT and ACT to stay sharp. Over the past several years, my average scores have been a 1580 on the SAT and a 36 on the ACT.
I am passionate about a lot of things, including playing the violin, baseball, tennis, video games, and chess. I was even the Texas State Chess Champion in elementary school! If you really want your mind blown, ask me for a math brainteaser – I have a ton of them!
